If you are a mom with a toddler who wakes up more often than you’d like in the middle of the night you are not alone. Lately, Mia has resorted to showing up standing next to my bedside balling in tears. And when I say lately, I mean the past few weeks. I know you are with me when I say “Mama needs her beauty sleep”. Now, do not get me wrong. Mia is a great sleeper but, I am almost positive she is having nightmares and does not know how to tell me. If you remember, a few months back we received the most precious book about helping your toddler getting into a routine for bed time. That was literally a God sent for us!
If you are struggling to get your toddler into a routine or just had your second baby check out this post.
But, now it seems as if she has upped her game! Mia loves books and pretend play so we knew our plan would be best formulated around this idea. We wanted a solution that did not seem like a chore and something that added incentive for her to stay in her bed throughout the night. . And yes, we have tried night lights including a projector light of ‘Anna and Elsa’ her favorite characters from Frozen. If anything, the lights kept her up longer and made her more aware of her surrounding which in turn, ruined the whole plan to begin with.
Small backstory my husband is an Air Force veteran and was scrolling through Instagram as he usually does looking at patriotic posts. (I am not kidding ladies, this man loves this country and everything it stands for.) He ended up tagging me in a post from a company named ZZZBear and sent me a message saying “This is it! We need to get this for the kids!” What he really meant to say was “Mia needs this and we need our sleep!” LOL. But, it turns out… he was right!
On to the good stuff:
What is ZZZBear and What does it do?
When you visit ZZZBears site this is what you will immediately see:
Sgt. Sleeptight protects children from nighttime anxiety caused by:
• Bad dreams and fear of the dark
• Having a deployed, injured or fallen parent
• Any stressful situation at home such as divorce
It was obvious the first bullet point was exactly what we were trying to find a solution for. And if you noticed Sgt. Sleeptight is everything out of your military dreams LOL! When we saw how pro-active this company was into supporting the troops we knew we had to take part in this movement and help get the word out.

For those of you who know us personally, you know my daughter goes NO WHERE without her Pluto’s ( Mickey’s pal, dog, companion) LOL. Yeah, THAT Pluto! She has two to be exact. When she occasionally gives me a hard time or is just off her game we take these guys away because we know they are her favorite and she immediately knows she did not behave well if her pals aren’t around. This was the tricky, yet somehow simple part to incorporating Sgt. Sleeptight.
Here is the easy 4 Step Plan:
1.|| Hang the doorknob hang on your child’s door. We let Mia do the honors to get her motivated for the event!
2.|| Read the trust ‘Sleep-tight Oath’! She got a kick out of this. We explained these were the instructions Sgt. Sleep-tight had for her in order to sleep together. She took these very seriously LOL. It was honestly hilarious every time we got into her bed she would say “I need the instructions!”
3.|| Tuck in your little babe with their new companion. In this case we added Sgt. Sleeptight to her Pluto squad so the duo is now a trio. Obviously, Sgt. in head in charge of the squad! And luckily, he was embraced with open arms!
*You mama’s know I always give my honest opinion. It took Mia three nights to get the idea but, she got it! By the fourth night, she got her first badge and she was ecstatic in the morning! If you are a military family I think there is no questions asked that this bear needs to make it’s way into your troop! It’s been a hit with our little girl and if it wasn’t for our son having his own military bear I am sure he would have been jealous over this little guy!
What are some ways you help your toddler stay in bed in all night motivated for bed time at all?
